I was having this discussion with a friend: Do you think there are a
lot of people without a mental health condition, THINK they know what
a person with a mental health conditon needs?

Do you think they use the excuse, we're just trying to help you?

I think a lot of people who don't know much about a mental illness
condition are put in charge of deciding benefits and others things for
people with a mental health condition.

I would be interested in hearing what others have to say.

as I discovered when trying to get a research proposal
approved, employees, or mental health workers, are averse to surveys of
clients regarding quality of services and needs ,& I thought it was
because the results might threaten their "expertise",maybe their
positions. The people with the most expertise in relating the needs
of the mentally ill are the mentally ill and their families friends &
acquaintenances..Harry

If people with mental health problems are the minority of the
population, then the scenario you describe is almost a statistical
certainty. How could it be otherwise?
