My pdoc has me on Effexor, Wellbutrin and Abilify, and Lamictal. My
insurance company will not pay for the Abilify any more and will only
pay for Risperdal. Currently, all cocktail is working great, no side
effects, no problems. I've read a good deal about Risperdal and for
some reason I am a little worried about adding Risperdal to my current
mix of meds. Does anyone have any experience with Risperdal and what do
you think about adding it to my current mix of drugs.

Thanks,

Stephen

Risperdal was the pits for me. I hated every minute I was on it.
Of course, it may turn out to be a godsend for you.
All depends on your body chemistry.
Pay attention to what happens when you start it.
You'll get clear signals, and if you're getting wierd side-effects,
report them right away to your doc.
My experience was that the side-effects never went away,
and he made me stick with it for about a year,
despite my numerous complaints.

I'm on a similar combination until lately anyway. I was on Lamictal
Risperidal, Zoloft and Clonazepan. I was having gastro problems as well
as weight gain on the Risperidal so its been switched to Abilify. Why
did your insurance company stop paying on the Abilify? Now I'm a little
nervous. You aren't by any chance on Anthem insurance are you? Please
say no! I am curious why you are on the Wellbutrin as well as the
Effexor. Aren't they both anti-depressants or is one to reduce anxiety?
I know a lot of people that have been on the Risperidal with out any
difficulties. It is rather sedating so you will have to include that in
your evening meds. I hope this is what you needed to know.

Stephen,

Risperdal is in my cocktail.

I have been taking it for about a year. My doctor says it is the
strongest anti-psychotic out there.

I use it too as my "rescue" medicine when I start to feel I may be
going manic.

Like all medications, you have to keep in mind that the medication that
works for you might not work for someone else.
