I'm new at this and started Depokote today for the first time. Can you
people tell me what meds you are taking? I'd appreciate it. Is there
side effects of depekote or Seroquel? Phil

Hi Phil and welcome!

I currently take Abilify (15 mg) and Lexapro. They work well for me
at the moment, however, I may have to increase my anti-depressant and
we are also discussing about adding something for anxiety.

I take Epilim (800 mg) and Effexor XR 375mg. High doses but not good
enough I don't think. I think i'm going to start questioning my dose
when my pdoc comes back from his trip next year.
Also take valium to relax.

I take 200 mgs of Lamictal, 150 mgs of Lithium, 12.5 mgs of Zoloft and
Klonopin as needed. I used to take seroquel too, but stopped after a
while b/c it made me very tired ( I took it for a year)

As you can see. we all take combinations/cocktails that are best for
our own chemistry and disposition.

Hope that helps and good luck!

I take depakote everyday and seroquel if i need it. I dont usually take
the seroquel everyday because the stuff gives me the munchies way too
much.

Some day's i take up to 300mg's of seroquel though if im really manic.
It also seem's to help with depression as well.

I'm not taking any prescription meds right now--they all have too many
negative side-effects for me, although I have taken Effexor XR, Cymbalta,
Strattera, and Wellbutrin (very briefly) since 2002, and Elavil in the mid
to late 1980's. I have been totally off meds since last June, I think.

Right now, I'm taking 2 to 3 grams of Omega-3 fish oil, in the large
capsules you can get at Trader Joe's, or other places. I also take other
vitamins and supplements (vitamin B-complex horse pill, and sublingual
B-6/B-12) daily, and try to eat a balanced diet, and run/walk at least 3
times/week. I also see a psychologist every 4 to 6 weeks. Talking to him
helps, as I don't have many friends, and even fewer who have the
patience/skill to listen, and not be judgmental.

As long as I do these things, and get enough sleep, I'm OK. I had a minor
setback recently because I wasn't sleeping enough (finishing up the
semester, and studying for finals), and really was down earlier this week.
After two good night's sleep, I'm much better.

Spring semester will be a bit easier (although I still have an 8 AM class
twice a week), but I don't think my sleep will be as disordered as it was in
the fall.

I *have* depression, but I also suspect I may be slightly bipolar II.

I also took effexor XR, wellbutrin and elavil. Out of all of those the
only one i found that sucked was effexor XR and man did it suck bad. I
hated that drug with a passion. I couldnt eat, my pupil's where always
dilated, i couldnt sleep and i couldnt have an orgasm to save my life.

I found wellbutrin and elavil to be both very easy med's to take. The
only thing that sucked about elavil was the dry mouth it caused me. Im
pretty sure it was also causing rapid cycling of my mood's though and
that's why im off the stuff.

My main symptom is mixed state bipolar where im manic and depressed so
i really have no choice but to take med's.

effexor kind of reminds me of the side affects from the drug in the movie
Evolution (2001) ... "The Kane Madness". But that is nothing compared to
the withdraws you experience for about two weeks after coming off effexor.

Effexor does to depression, what Buckley's does to a cough it works by
intimidation.

The withdrawal's from effexor are terrible. I had constant brain
shock's everytime i moved my eyes, dizziness, nausea and i threw up
abit. This lasted for about 2 week's but it started to die down after
about a week.

Never again would i take effexor. Not for a million buck's. I dunno
why doctor's used to be so quick to hand this crap out for everything.
I only took it for anxiety at the time. GP's dont think twice about
handing out effexor but god forbid they should give you a benzo. Even
though benzos have much less side effect's and generally no worse
withdrawal. Usually less withdrawal for most people.

Effexor should be saved for people with the blackest depression's. I
dont know who came up with the idea that it's good for anxiety
considering it usually makes you more anxious.

I thought i would get withdrawal's coming off elavil after being on it
for a long time but i didnt get any at all. I went cold turkey and i
noticed nothing. I guess i just got lucky or elavil has shag all
withdrawal's.

I am on Effexor XR 375mg (could do with a bit more actually but my pdoc
won't give me any more!). What's so bad about this drug apart from the
withdrawal symptoms? It was the only one that stopped my suicide
compulsions out of five before it so I can't really do without it. I am
not severely depressed either, just minor-moderate (according to a
study I undertake). Tell me what you experienced while taking it, i'm
really interested to know.

i saw here on a post a person mentioned he has bi-polar condition and
med list included prozac.
treatment guid book clearly states prozac should not be prescribed to
people who have bi-polar conditions. this was the grounds for all the
lawsuits that prozac went through

people tell me what meds you are taking? I'd appreciate it. Is there
side effects of depekote or Seroquel? Phil
i take 150mg of lamictal 2x a day. i take seroquel as needed for my
sleep issues. it's almost 7 in the morning and i haven't slept in a
couple of days so i think i'll take some soon. At first the lamictal
made me groggy and i couldn't think very well, had memory problems,
dizziness(which i still have) and sometimes i black out. Seroquel makes
me go into zombie mode the next morning. 25-50 mg usually knocks me out
if i'm some what tired. meds suck but they help. what do you mean new
at this? oh and my brother took depekote when he was in 1st grade, he
had trouble with his teeth, which was partially part of the meds. As
far as i know...that's it.
