Because Klonopin made me unbearably sleepy, I have been given
Seroquel to help with anxiety, sleeping and maybe some mood
stabilization.

I just read some side effects and became very frightened. Should one
be concerned about diabetes and cataracts - should one be concerned
enough to avoid the drug?

TIA

That is a hard question to answer. You have to weigh the risks against
the benefits, and both against the risks and benefits of the
alternatives. My belief is that if there are alternatives that are
clearly safer, it would make sense to try them; if not, then it would
make sense to go with Seroquel, but keep a close eye out for the
dangerous side effects.

Have you tried mood stabilizers such as Depakote and Lamictal? Are
there other alternatives available to you?

Why, yes, in fact, I am a rocket scientist.

I just had that discussion with my opthamologist (who I see because of other
eye problems). He told me that they really aren't seeing cataract problems
after all, but not to expect the warnings to go away on the medication, as
it is protection from lawsuits.

I am worried about the weight stuff, and the possibility of diabetes. I'd
like to be on something else that works and doesn't have that side (or in my
case, front) effect.
